The first LGBT History Month took place in the United States in 1994 and the UK LGBT+ History Month was initiated 11 years later in 2005 to challenge phobia and increase awareness of LGBT+ history. It is now an annual celebration of history, achievements and contributions of LGBT+ people.

Several teams across the University, including the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team, the UoS Pulse LGBT+ Network, the University of Southampton Student Union (SUSU) and the Festival team at the Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu), have come together to create a month of online events to enjoy from the safety of your home.

These University wide programmes aim to celebrate the achievements of LGBT+ figures throughout history, identify ways to overcome challenges and promote good practice.

The theme for this year is Body, Mind, Spirit.
